2012–2014
My first organizational experience took place in the aftermath of Tunisia’s 2011 revolution. I helped establish a student committee at Hammam Sousse 2 High School to defend students’ demands, improve school conditions, and raise awareness. I also contributed to the creation of a regional student association in Sousse, which helped establish the Tunisian Student Front, a national organization advocating for students’ rights and educational reform.
2012–2015
I was a member of the Arab Democratic Vanguard Party and its National Youth Bureau, as well as the Regional Coordination Committee of the Popular Front’s Youth in Sousse. The Popular Front, established in October 2012, brought together leftist, nationalist, trade-union, and ecological forces. I participated in its political and electoral activities. I resigned in 2015 due to concerns about young people’s role in decision-making and the management of internal differences.
2016–2019
I joined UGET at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in Sfax, serving on the university’s Federal Bureau with responsibility for political education. In 2016, I led the campaign for the Scientific Council elections, in which our list won three seats. I also participated as a delegate in the organization’s National Congress in 2018.
2016–2018
I participated in this youth-led campaign opposing the proposed Administrative Reconciliation Law. Active in Sousse, I took part in demonstrations, university events, conferences, and media activities. Although the law was passed in 2018, the campaign contributed to significant changes in its provisions, reportedly affecting around 70% of its articles.
2017–2021
I joined the Democratic Current in September 2017 and served in the National Bureau of its student wing. I presided over the first national congress of the Democratic Students Current and was elected to the party’s National Council in April 2019. I also contributed to the party’s municipal and legislative election campaigns, political platform, and electoral programme, and served as a media spokesperson. The party won 22 seats in the 2019 parliamentary elections and ranked third nationally in the 2018 municipal elections by the number of seats won.
I also contributed to the party’s national governing programme for the 2019 elections.
2017–2018
I was a spokesperson for this youth-led civic campaign, launched in December 2017 to oppose the government’s proposed Finance Law and its perceived social and economic consequences. The campaign mobilized young people, trade unionists, students, workers, and artists across Tunisia, attracting significant national and international media attention. It contributed to renewed parliamentary discussion and the adoption of an amended version of the proposed law.
I represented the campaign in media interviews, including on Tunisian national television, and spoke at university events about youth participation and the campaign’s objectives. I also gave interviews to international media outlets, including The Guardian, Le Monde, and Süddeutsche Zeitung.
